What are chickenpox and the symptoms?<\/h2>\n

Chickenpox, also known as varicella, is a highly contagious viral infection common among children. It\u2019s caused by the varicella-zoster virus and typically spreads through direct contact or droplets from coughing and sneezing.<\/p>\n

The illness usually begins with mild flu-like symptoms such as a fever, fatigue, and loss of appetite. Soon after, red spots start to appear, developing into small, fluid-filled blisters (vesicles). These blisters eventually break open, ooze, and then form scabs. One of the hallmark features of chickenpox is the intense itching that accompanies the rash. Scratching the itchy spots can lead to infections or even permanent scarring if not properly managed.<\/p>\n

How long do chickenpox last?<\/h2>\n

Chickenpox typically lasts 7 to 10 days from the onset of symptoms to the healing of the blisters. The virus follows three main phases:<\/p>\n

Incubation Period:<\/strong>
\nAfter exposure to the virus, symptoms take 10 to 21 days to appear. During this time, the infected person is not contagious.<\/p>\n

Active Phase:<\/strong>
\nThis begins with flu-like symptoms (fever, fatigue), followed by the appearance of red spots that turn into fluid-filled blisters. This phase lasts around 5 to 7 days, during which the blisters crust over and heal.<\/p>\n

Recovery: <\/strong>
